Getting Started

  1. Install Send to AI+ from the Atlassian Marketplace

  2. Open any Jira issue

  3. Find the Send to AI panel in the issue sidebar

  4. Click any tool to send the issue context to it

Admin Configuration

Jira administrators can configure which AI tools are available and which Jira projects show Send to AI+.

Open the configuration page

  1. In Jira, go to SettingsAppsManage apps

  2. Find Send to AI+

  3. Click Configure

Only Jira administrators with the Administer Jira global permission can view and save this configuration.

Choose available tools

Use the AI Tools field to select which AI tools users can launch from Jira issues.

  • Select All tools to make every supported tool available

  • Select specific tools to show only approved tools

  • At least one AI tool must be selected

Changes save automatically. The page shows Saving and then Saved when the update is complete.

This setting applies to all users. Users can still customise the order of the tools they can see, but they cannot show tools that an administrator has hidden.

Choose visible projects

Use the Projects field to control which Jira projects show Send to AI+.

  • Leave the field empty to show Send to AI+ in every Jira project

  • Select one project to show Send to AI+ only in that project

  • Select multiple projects to show Send to AI+ only in those projects

Supported Tools

Coding tools

  • Cursor, Copilot, VS Code, Claude Code, Devin, Codex, Rovo, Cline, Kiro, Conductor, v0, Aider, Zed, Amp, OpenCode, Bolt, Lovable, Replit

Chat tools

  • ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Vibe

How Tools Launch

  • Deeplink (Cursor, Devin, Conductor): opens the desktop app through a browser handoff with the prompt included

  • Copy + Deeplink (VS Code): copies the prompt to your clipboard and opens VS Code

  • Copy + Open (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, v0, Perplexity, Bolt, Lovable, Replit, Grok, DeepSeek, Vibe): copies the prompt to your clipboard and opens the tool’s website

  • CLI (Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, Rovo, Cline, Kiro, Aider, Zed, Amp, OpenCode): copies a ready-to-run terminal command to your clipboard

What's Included in the Prompt

  • Issue key

  • Issue title

  • Issue description

The Jira description is converted to plain text. Links in the description are preserved as text with the URL included.

The prompt does not currently include comments, linked issues, issue type, status, priority, or labels.

Coding tools prepend: "Implement the requested change using the Jira issue below."

Chat tools prepend: "Analyze the Jira issue below."

Customising Tool Order

  • Drag and drop tools to reorder them

  • Your order is saved per user and persists across sessions

  • Click the reset button to restore the default order

  • If an administrator changes the available tools, hidden tools are removed from your view automatically

Requirements

  • Jira Cloud

  • Jira administrator access to configure available tools and projects

Data & Privacy

  • Read-only: the app reads Jira issue title and description, but never modifies your Jira issues

  • User-triggered handoff: issue context is only sent to your browser, clipboard, or selected tool when you click a tool

  • No AI-service API calls: the app does not call AI service APIs directly

  • Prompt handoff: desktop deeplinks use the AppsPlus redirect service so the browser can open desktop app protocols

  • Stored preferences: user tool order, administrator tool visibility, and administrator project visibility settings are stored in Atlassian Forge storage

  • Project visibility: selected project keys are also stored as a Jira app property so Jira can decide whether to show the issue panel

Troubleshooting

Configure button is not visible
Confirm you are a Jira administrator and can access Manage apps.

Configuration page says only Jira administrators can manage tool visibility
Your account needs the Administer Jira global permission.

Configuration page says “Select at least one AI tool”
Choose All tools or select one or more approved tools.

Configuration page says visibility settings could not be synced or saved
Refresh the page and try again. If the issue persists, reinstall the app or contact support.

Send to AI+ does not appear in a project
Check the Projects field on the configuration page. If projects are selected, Send to AI+ appears only in those projects. Leave the field empty to show it in all projects.

Deeplink tool copies a link instead of opening the app
The desktop app may not be installed. Install the app and try again.

Prompt opens in the wrong place or does not appear
For copy-based tools, the prompt has been copied to your clipboard. Paste it into the tool manually.

Prompt seems truncated
Deeplink tools have URL length limits, and CLI tools shorten very large prompts before copying the command. Use a copy + open tool when you need the full prompt copied.

Panel doesn't load
Refresh the page. If the issue persists, reinstall the app.
